Pathira kali amman kovil (devasthanam)- trincomalee

This is the temple of goddess bhadrakali or pathrakali. It is located in new moor street, Trincomalee of Eastern province, Sri lanka. This is nearly 2 km away for the famous shankari devi temple. Trincomalee central bus station is very close to this kovil, just 5 minutes walking distance from the temple. Trincomalee railway station is also close to this kovil 1.7 km away from the temple as this kovil is located in the trinco town. There are some more visiting attraction nearby to the temple. There is a separate kovil for god ganesh when entering kali amman kovil.

This kovil was built according to Dravidian architecture. Very impressive and unique look, like modern day art. All 3D sculptures and plenty of stories visualized in the statues. This temple has such an amazing interior design. It is a place with an intresting history. Beautiful temple with so colorful and magnificent sculptures. Devotees pray for their needs by breaking coconuts infront of the temple. Beautiful temple and well maintained inside. Kali amman is belived to be a very powerful goddess so devotess and people shouldn’t consume any meat or non vegetarian food before visiting this kovil.

Please respect the local dress code if you want to go inside. During hot season the sand will be little hot during noon. Fridays and Tuesdays are the special days for kali amman (goddess). there is a small parking lot available.

The feast (thiruvizha) of this kovil usually start on the 3rd week of march.that will happen for almost 15 days,where all the devotees will come and celebrate the feast. evening pooja will occur as a grand festival during these 15 days. and the 10th day ther thiruvizha will be full of devotess and with more crowd.
