Matale District

The district Matale, which attract most of the tourists with abundant tourist destination, is located in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Matale district is home for cultural, archaeological, traditional & medicinal tourist spots. Other than these the three world heritage sites namely, Dambulla Cave Temple, Sigiriya Fortress and Knuckles Range attracts more local & foreign tourists. Although the district attracts more tourists because of the destinations and tourist spots, the climatic condition is the second best reason for the healthy tourism in the district. A traveller can experience both the cool and dry climate when travel from Southern to Northern part of the district respectively. Matale district is home for all the ethnicity while Buddhism and Sinhalese hold the majority percentages.
