Bogoda Wooden Bridge

Bogoda Wooden Bridge

Sri Lanka indeed is the wonder of the world. The oldest wooden bridge of the world is located in Badulla (Uva Province) Sri Lanka.(nearly 7km from Badulla). It dates back approximately to four hundred years, to the Dambadeniya era. Gallanda oya flows beneath this bridge. In ancient times the bridge has been built to connect Badulla and Kandy.

The bridge has been entirely constructed of wood and the nails were also made out of wood. The bridge is sheltered by a wooden roof and there is a wooden fence running at both sides that is decorated with wooden arts. Therefore this wooden bridge is a legendary proof for the amazing skills of the ancient Sri Lankan architects. Bogoda temple which is located beside has been built many years before the bridge. It is also a famous historical site of the country. Therefore this is a must visited site for Sri Lankans as it teaches you the pride of Sri Lanka.
