Located adjacent to the Kadugannawa railway station, National Railway Museum is an eye catching venue for any person who likes to learn the history of railway of Sri Lanka. This museum has previously stationed in Colombo. It has been moved to Kaduagannwa on 24th of December 2014, on the day the Sri Lanka Railway Department celebrated their 150th anniversary of their service.
Both inside and outside of the museum many exhibits including engines, carriages, locomotives and other tools used in railway are displayed. It narrates a story how railway has evolved over the years. The visitors can have the assistance of guided tour to gather more information. It also includes a video on the history of railway. It is an educational journey for an affordable price.
