This agriculture technology park is located in Gannoruwa, Kandy. It is run by the the department of agriculture. Dr. Rohan Wijekoon is the initial proposer of this park and its construction work has started in 2004. This park expands for 2km2.
This park was initially cultivated with basic crops and later the variety of crops were expanded. At present the park includes a vegetable garden,fruit garden , herbal garden , spice garden, rice technology garden,organic farming zone, insect zoo and many more exciting zones that are related to the agriculture field.
School children and general public who are interested in farming and its technological procedure are benefited from this park. They can gain knowledge on several topics such as bee farming, soil profile and soil science, Chena cultivation and plant pathology. There is a model home garden, tissue culture division, agriculture museum and a sales centre in this site. The visitors can read information displayed on each zone and they can contact the researchers of the specific section for further clarifications.There is a sign board at the entrance that easily directs visitors. This park is also considered a recreational place because its landscape is serene and eye soothing.
