Trincomalee Saneeswaran kovil or Temple of Saturn

Trincomalee Saneeswaran Temple is the only separate temple for Saturn in the whole island of Sri Lanka. It is a Hindu temple for planet Saturn. It is situated in B27 railway station road. Near the trincomalee railway station,also it is very close to trincomalee bus station just 1.5 Km. there is a beautiful Vishnu temple Just opposite to this saneeswaran temple.

On the road side there are (extremely) small shop selling gingelly oil and gingelly seed sac to pray by burning it. vehicles can be parked on the road side and small parking space is available. you can see spotted deer in this area.

Special poojas will be held at the Trincomalee Saneeswaran temple to mark the Puratasi Sani fast. This special pooja is on September. many devotees will pray to seek relief from evil of Saturn if their Saturn position is bad by Burning the ‘Ellu Pottany’ following a fast is one of the rituals by the devotees.

During noon time the heat is more because of this offering and hot sun.kovil will be specially open on Saturdays morning and evening time, also during weekdays it is open for morning and evening pooja.

It is a unique kovil as it is the only kovil in sri lanka separately for god saneeswaran where you can find kovil like this in India other than this. For god saneeswaran crow is the vehicle so you can see big statue of crow inside the kovil. You can buy tickets for pooja in the kovil shop inside the temple, after entering the entrance.
