University of Colombo

The Colombo University is positioned in cinnamon gardens which is 3km far from Colombo city center.

The University was listed among the top universities of South Asia and one of the oldest pioneering educational institutes of the Island. It offers bachelors degree, postgraduate degree, external diploma courses and distance learning. Altogether 7 faculties run under the University, namely medicine, arts, education, management & finance, law, science and graduate studies. Also 7 other institutes were affiliated with the University to educate the society. The Ceylon medical college (1870), Ceylon University College (1921) and university of Ceylon (1942) were merged and formed the University of Colombo in 1972. Wisdom Enlightens is the English translation for the motto of the University and it focus a vision as centre of excellence in the all area of knowledge. Other than academic path University engage in many extracurricular activities such as sports, aesthetics, social services and many more.

Students from all part of the Island were included within the University. The University students are able to get all the facilities and resources because of the location.
