Hambantota district is located along the South-eastern coastal belt of Sri Lanka. The district is located in the Southern province and likely to be act as the second major urban hub of the Island. The district acts as main trading port even from the prehistory time and it got its name from that. “Hamban” means a special sailing craft and “Thota” means port. Although the district is underwent vas development projects, it serve the Sri Lankan tourism by preserving many natural & historical resources.
